Heat filtered water to 208℉ in a gooseneck kettle.
Insert your Kalita filter into the brewer and on top of a range server or mug.
Weigh out 30g of whole bean coffee and grind on a medium coarse grind size.
Transfer your coffee grounds into the Kalita filter, and shake to level
After setting your Kalita and decanter/mug on the scale, tare your scale to 0 and start your timer counting up.
Pour 60g of water directly over the coffee bed in concentric circles, ensuring the grounds are fully saturated. Wait 30 seconds for the coffee to bloom.
Pour an additional 60g of water and wait an additional 30 seconds.
Pour additional water as needed in pulses every 30 seconds until you reach the total water weight of 480g by 2:30 minutes. Aim to pour your water in concentric circles to allow even saturation.
Our total brew time goal including the drain time is 3 minutes, though each coffee is unique.
Once water has drained, remove spent coffee grounds and compost
Thoroughly mix your brew with a spoon before serving
